In Origin over-view and your Library, right-click Battlefield 1. Have you tried using the Repair function?
With other Origin games like Mass Effect 3, you could copy and paste the game files and then try to download the game to the same directory/folder. Origin would download a few megs of file data and then pop straight to 100%. This might take several minutes while the application makes sure you have all the correct files.
However, if you've just copy&pasted the files, then you might be missing some important .dll files and maybe even registry entries. Try repair first, download trick second and if that doesn't work, might be out of luck.

I can't find the repair function but I have tired your second solution, it seems to acknownledge 10gig of the data but it still gives me a 30gig download. (The files I have from my friend total 47gig)

you could try this, I did it with bf4 and it worked, not sure if it will work with bf1 but worth the try.
