How to buy game for teen

My teen wants to purchase battlefield 1 premium pass but gets an error saying he's not old enough. I have added his account to my family plan but can't find an option to approve the purchase. I have removed the spending limit but that didn't help. Can I buy it and gift it to him? If so, how?

He doesn't want to make a new EA account as he's worried about losing his progress on battlefield 1, which we bought for him through CDkeys.

If you decide to try that, I recommend scrutinising the retailer's refund policy beforehand. That way if it doesn't let him access the content, which may happen if there's an age restriction on it, you won't be out of pocket.

Moreover, just to make you aware, grey market sellers like CD Keys are not supported since they aren't authorised retailers, and using them comes with risks:

What if we bought the premium pass through a third party such as CD keys? Could we then add it to his account?

Unfortunately, the in-game progress is not transferable between accounts.

Is there any way to move his in-game progress to a new EA account?

    Hey there,

The reason your teen is unable to purchase the Battlefield 1 Premium Pass is because the game is rated PEGI 18. Even with family settings adjusted or spending limits removed, underage accounts are still blocked from purchasing age-restricted content.

Unfortunately, there isn't currently an option for a parent to directly approve or override this restriction through the EA or Xbox family settings.
