If I buy a steam game from EA and activate it on origin, do I still need steam?

If I buy a steam game from EA and activate it on origin, do I still need steam to play it for it to be on or can I just have origina running? Because I bought Battlefield 2042 on another steam account...

@GUCCI_Trekkot Then get the refund through Steam and then purchase and play through Origin only.
