Issues with Logitech G700 mouse and keybinding

I seem to have problems making key bindings on my Logitech G700 mouse; the game doesn’t recognize the G5 button; it don’t work in game but works when you try to bind the keys although Battlefield 4 thinks that the G5 button is the G4 button.

As you here this is a very odd problem. I know it is Battlefield 4 that has the problem since this isn’t an issue in other games or other applications that utilizes the G5 button.

I’d understand that there could be an issue with the buttons that use micros but they work just fine, the G4 button also work as expected. The G4 and G5 are standard buttons and don't use any micros for you who aren’t familiar with the G700 mouse.

Does anyone know a fix for this problem and what causes it? I’d be much grateful for any help and advice I can get. Does anyone else who uses the G700 have the same issues as I do?

Thank you very much in advance!

  • Hi!

Try to replicate this. If anyone of you has G700s from Logitech 🙂

In Logitech Gaming Software i assigned this:

"1" to mouse wheel tilt left

"4" to mouse wheel tilt right

When I am in game od foot, 1 and 4 are working to change between weapons 1 and 4.

But when I assign 1 and 4 in in-game Keybindings to primary and secondary weapons in wehicles, they are not working!

I have newest Logitech Gaming Software.

    Windows 8.1.

    BF4 with all patches.

    All drivers updates.

    Thank You in advance.

Hi just to be sure, You can bind the buttons on your mouse trough the battlfield keybinding options?, but when u do the bindings aren't named correcltly? For instance the G5 button is called G7. And some of the binded buttons do not work correctly in game?

With my Joystick i also had that when i was binding keys there weren't named coorectly, but for me it wasnt a problem because it worked correctly.

I found this answer on another site, i dont know if its true, maybe someone else can comfirm or deny that its possible.

oh, I understand what you're talking about now.

I think the maximum number of buttons that games will natively support is 5 (left, middle, right, back, forward).  possibly 7 if you consider scroll up and scroll down to be buttons.  this is a Windows limitation and is caused by the format (and size) of the message that Windows sends to applications reporting mouse actions.  extra buttons that don't fit into that message structure simply don't get reported to applications.

and some games will recognize even fewer (Windows reports them, but the game ignores them).

for games like that, or mice with more buttons (like the G700) you need to assign the mouse button a key action to allow a game to recognize it.

i have a G500 mouse, its got some less buttons but more than 5 in total let me look if it works.

Thing is that the G5 is a standard windows button; it is as the name suggest the fifth button. I've also heard that people have similar issues with the 4th button as well.
