Solved, it doesn't let you skip if it is still installing or updating via origin until it's 100% done.
Spamming the space bar will get you in-game as soon as possible after the required level loading is done.

Apologies, it was because the game was still installing in the background via origin so it wasn't letting me skip for some reason. Thanks for the quick answer.
