Lost BF3 Multiplayer Data (Rank/Guns)

Today me and my friend were playing some Battlefield 3 multiplayer tdm. Suddenly, the screen froze and went black and the loading dot in bottom right and corner was just visible. I had to then turn off my xbox since it was frozen. It also happened to my friend a moment before.

When I turned my xbox back on and went to play again I had lost my rank (colonel 4) and all my guns (a lot). The same had happened to my friend. So I didn't have a rank and only had the guns you first get. I have tried turning my xbox on and off a couple of times but that did not resolve the problem. 

Please could you tell me what happened and how I can resolve the problem. I just hope it isn't permanent. By the way, my gamertag is WoolenWarrior72 incase you need it.
