Low FPS all of a sudden
Specs: Ryzen 5 1600
GTX 1080
16gb DDR4 RAM
samsung evo 850
MSI b350 tomahawk MOBO
So as of two days ago my FPS in BF1 has changed from being in 70-90 FPS 1080p max settings to a now horrible 25fps average with stutters every 2 seconds and i have no idea why. it just started doing this out of the blue. I opened up my task manager and saw that my CPU and GPU are hardly being used. My CPU is only running at 20%, my GPU at 10%, and my RAM at 50% (with chrome and discord open)
I have tried everything from uninstalling and repairing the game to reinstalling Windows. This problem even occurs with Star Wars BF2(2017). However oddly enough, this problem happened a day after i installed Star Wars .Every other game i have works just fine. Titanfall 2 runs at around 120FPS maxed out. R6S runs at 90FPS maxed out. I uninstalled Star Wars and it still has this problem.
I even ran a Virus scan on my PC using Malwarebytes and it says i'm fine. Any clue to why this is all of a sudden happening? Questions are welcome.
Hey @iluminatethesky
so i think i have figured out the problem. my CPU was running at only 1550HMz which is about half the clock speed. I assumed my CPU was pretty much done for so i went head and ordered a ryzen 5 3600. i figured i needed a upgrade anyways. when preparing for my new CPU, i needed to update my BIOS. when i did that, my Ryzen 5 1600 went back to working how it was working before. Just to make sure, i ran BF1 again and the CPU was about at 85% load, meaning it was actually working and my GPU was around 50% as well. thank you for your support.
for anyone who might have the same problem of your CPU and GPU not being utilized correctly or having low clock speeds. try updating your BIOS or overclocking. Hope this helps!
