No Battlefield 3 Battlelog Reports

So, I just signed up for Battlelog today because apparently this is the ONLY way to view recent players list for bf3.  There's this British guy I wanted to add as a friend but I didn't write his name down. It was a letter and then a bunch of zeros and then another letter and no way to find his gamertag. Will it only update with recently played games after you sign up or can you view recent ones you just played before you signed up? It's irritating.
