Solved

Not able to run Battlefield 3

Battlefield 3 will not run

Specs:

Processor: Intel Core i7-3537U @2.00GHZ

RAM: 8GB

OS: Windows 8.1 K   64-bit

Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000  and   NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M (Memory 2048MB)

Hard Drive Memory: 233GB left

I went to the NVIDIA Control Panel and set the default graphic card to GT 630M for Battlefield 3 and for all programs, but when I start the game, I get this error and I am not able to play the game at all.

 DirectX Error

DirectX function "m_dxgiFactory->CreateSwapChain( m_device, %sd,&m_swapChain.assignGet0)" failed with DXGI_ERROR_INVALID_CALL:The application has made an erroneous API call that it had enough information to avoid. This error is intended to denote that the application should be altered to avoid the error. Use of the debug version of the DXGI.DLL will provide run-time debug output with further information.. GPU: "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000" , Driver: Unknown

I reinstalled Direct X and I still get this error. Please help me fix this error.

I also updated both of my graphic card drivers but the game still does not play.

Hey guys I found a perfect solution from my friend who had the same issue and here is the solution: Change the system locale to English(UK)  and restart.

It works perfectly OH MY GOD it works perfectly

  • I have Acer Aspire 5750G with pretty much the same specs. Havent downloaded the game because of the download error. Hope this doesnt happen to me.

  • Your laptop has the specs to run it. Do you have a feature called "switchable graphics"? If so go in there and then highligh BF3 and select high performance so the game uses your GeForce 630M instead of the unsupported generic factory GPU. I realize that you've done this via GeForce but it may help to make sure there isn't another program overriding the setting.

Also, can you run a dxdiag from the startbar and post the results to make sure there isn't more going on here than it looks?
