Origin asks for product key again when opening bf3

I haven't gotten on and played bf3 for a while. About 6 months probably. But back when I downloaded it, I believe I went through battlefield 3's actual site.

I paid for and got the limited edition and of course did the digital download. Origin probably gave me a product code back then and I used it then, but here I am 6 moths later and its asking me for the product key again, which there's no way I can remember, whenever I try to open bf3 from the icon on my desktop. I have no idea how I can find this code again because I don't think I saved it anywhere. I just used it that once, not thinking I would ever need it again. Can somebody PLEASE help me figure this out? I just got my PC back and have really been looking forward to playing bf3. Thanks.

  • Serial keys you use in Origin games are single use and when you use one while being logged on to an Origin account the game associated with the serial key binds itself to that account. After this the serial is useless for anything other than retrieving your account should it be hacked or lost.
If you using an Origin client on any computer after that - log into the account, then you will see the game there as well without the need for you to enter any serial key. This is how serial keys work in Origin, Steam and practically everywhere else you have multiplayer games and it has been like this for ages.

    To sum up:
Serial Keys / Game Keys: can only be used once -> after that the game is on your account.
Hope this helps you in your future endeavours to kill virtual people 🙂
