1. This is after an upgrade and a clean install of Windows. I don't see how a clean boot would help anything, as it is a FPS issue only with this game.
Also wouldn't that shut off the Nvidia Drivers? So how would the graphics card even function. I'm sorry I don't feel like using my computer as test bench for stuff like this,
especially since the page says it can cause damage to the system, which of course EA would take no responsibility in, so no change
2. Moving the document folder to desktop? Wouldn't that just reset my settings?
Thx for trying, but this issue is with the game I'm pretty sure tbh. Even with everything on low it can happen, even from a clean install of BF1
Possible other causes:
1. One thing that came up is that in BF4 when somebody would cheat in game it could cause server performance issues. This might be a player cheating, when they join.
2. I'm keep an eye on thermal throttling. Testing so far with some settings shows the CPU at 60%, and GPU at 70% about with temps around 50 and 62 degrees respectively about. However, I'm seeing cases where the CPU will go up to 100% for a short period of time, to go back down to about 80%. I've readjusted the cooling to maintain around 50 degrees, because at some point I saw the CPU temp spike at about 60, and GPU temps running at 72. Which compared to the normal averages is a significant spike in temps. What this is caused by I don't know. It possible seems effects related as well, however turning down to effects to low for example doesn't seem to solve the issue.
Now in 2. that spike could cause the CPU/GPU to throttle perhaps which could be causing the FPS drop, which may also explain why it can happen after a duration of playing instead of right away (in some cases). There is a lot of unknowns and maybes here, and just from observations so far, and these may change as a clearer picture develops.
Hope it helps in tracking it down though. I'm going to try to take screenshots when the fps drops, and at the same time look at the CPU/GPU graphs. Although this may be tricky, hopefully it will help track this down.
One thing that I find is interesting is that other people reporting this are reporting similar numbers in FPS drops e.g. 45 as a low, and then back to 100 or so later. It's just weird, it runs at 79/80 the entire time, and then for a bit just starts fluctuating, and then goes normal again, to start fluctuating again. Something's causing, just not sure what yet
