[PC] Multiple input devices creating false posItive with Punkbuster.

I have been playing the game since the open-beta, and was one of the many

people who helped with the development of the game. I liked Battlefield 3

enough, to pre-order and purchase the Digital Deluxe version of Battlefield 4

as well as the season pass, and have been playing the game off and on since

it was released. I have taken my knocks, and lumps, and have progressed to

level 102 (Colonel III), by playing for many, many hours, and being killed countless times.

With that being said, recently I was playing Battlefield 4 and got a ban for a

wallhack violation (WTF!!!?). At the time I received the violation, I was placing

a tugs, and had just finished placing a spawn beacon. I didn't even have a weapon

in my hands, and wasn't even shooting at anyone!

After doing some research on punkbuster, their software, and their methods,

I believe I will no longer be able to play on a punkbuster enabled server in BF4.

The detection was in error, and it was a false positive, being that I had multiple

input devices connected to my machine, it detected them as a macro, and so I was

therefore flagged for being in violation. When in fact I was not using a macro, bot,

or hack.

As I stated earlier, I have been playing BF4 since the open beta,  and paid nearly

$120 for digi-deluxe and season pass and invested so much time and effort into this

game... why the f*ck would I even risk taking a chance of jeopardizing my ability to

play this game by using a cheat of any kind?

It turns out that after trying to appeal the violation/ban, that PB is basically saying F U!

and have disabled the reply section of the ban appeal.

To get to the point of this whole thing, I got a violation/ban for using multiple input devices.

I recently started re-playing some of my flight/space sims, so had my flight devices connected

to my computer at the time I got the violation/ban.

I have been using a Logitech G700s gaming mouse for about 2 years, without any issue.

Recently I added a Thrustmaster T.Flight Stick X, and the throttle control from my Saitek X52.

And apparently this is what caused me to get flagged for a violation.

I had noticed on a couple of other games (first person shooters), that when I started them up,

that my character would start spinning like crazy, and that I couldn't get them to stop. So, I knew,

I had an input issue. Usually the spinning would stop when I removed the flight controller(s).

I had left the controllers connected, so I could try some of the flight modes that are available

in BF4, like the air superiority maps and what not. And because of this, while playing in one of the

conquest maps, I got a violation/ban for using a wallhack.

Here is the link to the ban appeal, and the conversation that followed, where PB basically told me to take a long, flying, f*cking, leap, off of a short pier.

    Found your ban here: https://www.pbbans.com/mbi-viewban-ab09f7b1-vb391314.html

"At the time I received the violation, I was placing

You don't need a to have a weapon in your hands to have wallhack activated. Those two things have no correlation = wallhack is not dependent on having a weapon in your hands.

Wallhack is the ability to see through walls. It requires looking in the game memory and then showing that information on the screen. If Punkbuster actually by mistake detected another input device as a macro it would not ban you for Wallhack as thats a completely different type of cheating.

    Taken from your appeal:

"You have 72 hours to comply or I will be seeing you in court."

Most large companies have the policy that if a customer threatens with suing the company then the employees are to cease communicating and all future communication is between lawyers.

I know that EA/AHQ can't handle bans. That's not why I posted here. I posted here because I wanted to inform people that using multiple input devices could possibly get them banned.

A wallhack is not about being able to see through walls, its about being able to shoot through "solid objects" like walls or terrain to hit your target.

I know this because I've been the victim of people using it many times since i started playing this game back in Dec. 2013.

And PunkBuster/Evenbalance is not a large company. It's less than 50 employees from the information I have gotten off the internet.

Well, then I guess I'm here to tell that multiple input devices do not get them banned :D

Also, I'm sorry to say but shooting through things you are not able to shoot through is not wallhacking, it's often combined with wallhacking but it's traditionally not the same thing:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheating_in_online_games#Wallhacking

Also, most people that claim they died by being shoot through impossible objects mostly complain about that because the killcam is crap and shows you where the person is a little after they killed you.

I've played Battlefield since Battlefield 1942 - I've seen countless people complaining about wallhacking where it wasn't true 😉

And yes, Punkbuster is not a big company and they could use a new website but I don't know where you are going with that 😛
