@DingoKillr
I'm sorry, could you explain your reply a little better by chance?
My post is talking about vehicle classes, the classes added to BF1 and/ or BF5. The specific classes only for vehicles.
I'm stating in my post I want this next upcoming Battlefield game to be like BF4 where it had no vehicle classes.
I'm not a fan of driver/pilot class. DICE should just lock the driver/pilot inside their vehicle because they can already repair it from the inside so there's no reason for them to get out.
I'm a fan of old school Battlefield games where infantry could hop into any vehicle they find and start having fun.
Now it's like DICE wants you to choose between being infantry or vehicle. In older Battlefield titles there was no distinction and any infantry player on the Battlefield could hop in a tank or plane and start having fun.
In BF1 and BFV that's not possible without dying first, because most vehicles are only accessible from the respawn screen.

Any class can steal vehicles, certainly in BF1, you just can't repair if you haven't got the tool equipped.

Very true. I wish they would just remove the vehicle classes and just leave it to 4 classes, pick your gadgets and go play a game, with some vehicles along the way. I still think DICE got lost once they started working on Battlefront titles.
Vehicle classes in my eyes just limit the sandbox experience. You don't have the creative openness anymore. Plus the repairing while in a vehicle needs to be removed immediately, what a bad design decision.

The reasons Tanker/Pilot class should exist
1) If you are going to use a vehicle you should make a sacrifice on gadgets and weapons and not just a straight up buff. That has been part of balancing BF such as an Engineer(AT) don't t carry ammo.
What is the point of a medic piloting a plane. If you want to be a medic focus on that.
We don't know if special function each infantry class has. Being a Recon could give huge advantage on spotting target if in a vehicle.
2) Auto repair of vehicles is part of the problem with OP vehicles in BF3/4 you never required to carry the engineer tool. No team work required just hide and Auto-repair.
If you have a vehicle you should repair it or seek someone to repair it for you.
3) To stop undesirable play
- Sniper taxis
- players swapping to get new vehicle specializations.
- faster reload.
- drivers using AT rockets during tank v tank.( my guess it also part why the extra animation)
- reduce handover to enemy team.

I respect your opinion, but I disagree, I honestly think the total opposite. I think classes limit the user experience. First thing I would do to the Battlefield series is outright remove classes altogether, but that's a different topic.
Reasons why I think this,? mostly because I never play as a squad, I'm not trying to live out some military fantasy in Battlefield, I just want to have fun. I feel classes restrict that fun, so much so, I tend to play older titles in the series like Battlefield 4 and/ or different titles from EA's and Dice's competitors altogether.
I can without a doubt say if I started playing the Battlefield series today with Battlefield 1 or Battlefield 5, I wouldn't enjoy the series as much as I do. I would simply lose any ability to want to come back, It's just too restricting.
I started with Battlefield Modern Combat for the Xbox ( original Xbox ). 12 verses 12, proximity chat, friendly fire, (no destruction, that sucks), no aim assist?, 4 basic classes, huge open maps with ability to base camp, vehicles needed to be repaired manually, limited lock on missiles, limited UI, no flash light effect for snipers, no auto melee automations.
In my eyes the Battlefield series currently is nothing more than Crysis. Just trying to look pretty, but not offer an unique experience. It's what I would call a sham.
If this next game does in fact have vehicle classes, I'm sure I won't play it that much. I understand some will even if it does, I'm just saying my opinion on it. I just don't like it.
Sorry for the wall of text.
