I'm honestly beggining to believe this is more a Windows 8.1 and /or AMD problem, than an Origin / BF4 problem ... Seriously; I've experimented on this with Windows 7 x64, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, and every time it happens, it's specifically on 8 and 8.1, but is almost non-existant on 7 x64.
I am almost to the point in thinking it's 100% a Windows, or AMD driver problem, and not a specifically BF4-oriented problem. If it were a Windows 'any flavor, why does it almost completely 'not happen' on Windows 7 x64? And if it was specifically a BF4 problem, then why doesn't it happen as often on Windows 7 as it does on the two iterations of Windows 8?
I reinstalled Windows 7 x64, and the only time the problem comes up for me anymore, is when I get a notice on a new post in this thread. I do expect one day to see a post saying it's 'finally' been traced to Windows, or AMD's driver builds.
It's frustrating, I know .... believe me I know how frustratingly quiet and disinterested Origin and/or EA may be most times on news and updates to what's going on, but I really feel we may be searching the wrong direction (note - 'MAY BE') on this problem.
Right now, I'm playing the game just fine on 7, and I won't be reinstalling 8.1 on this computer and will keep it specificallty on my work desktop where it shines.
I will also point out that 8 and 8.1 have made NFS, Shift, S2U, and several STEAM-installed games act nuts at times, yet they all run smooth as silk on Windows 7 x64.
Mostly, I'd like to hear what others have encountered along this same path .... using Windows 8 / 8.1 x64, and Windows 7 x64 .... so I can compare the data and decide for sure what side I'm leaning to on who is responsible for this issue and this mess.
I much rather hammer on the guilty and not be wasting my time heading in the wrong direction.
LoL! Right now, things are so screwed up I don't even know for sure who to blame for all of this. :manfrustrated:

Yes, we already know it is an AMD related driver issue in combination with something specific in BF4. AMD and Dice have already acknowledged this as a known issue but it seems to have been put to the side (and forgotten?)
So while it is a certain combination of factors that appear to trigger it (Win8 x64, AMD 6/7xxx, BF4) the fix needs to be coordinated between AMD and Dice as it may be code from either, or both, of them that is causing the issue.

Dont know if this is the same issue but it seems like it. I have an i7 930 6gig ram & a ASUS ROG HD7970 Matrix Platinum with 3 gig of onboard ram bf4 plays ok for a while but then i get this message http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp140/royslade/IMG_08991_zps6bd21fe1.jpg PS. I get a similar message when trying to use Mantle ;( I then have to reboot pc
