Punkbuster - Error Loading PBCL

Hi all,

I'm running Windows 8, I only get this error on a few servers.

This is the punkbuster log file:

[09.28.2012 07:24:49] PunkBuster Reports PB Server Running Old Version C2.292
[09.28.2012 07:24:49] This PB Server Requires (A1386 C2.292) - Error loading pbcl

Steps I've taken:

Uninstalled punkbuster, did a registry clean. Re-installed punkbster via pbsvc.exe. Manually updated via PBsetup.exe

Added an exception to my firewall & to windows defender. (even turned them off at one stage, still same problem) I'm at my wits end, I'm not sure what else I can try? Must I open a ticket at Punkbuster?

Some servers I can play just fine. This is really annoying as our clan server kicks me due to this punkbuster error.

Please can you help me solve this problem?

Got it working!
Open PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe’s properties and enable Windows 7 Compatibility Mode, as well as “Run as administrator”. Save.

Do this for both files in both directory's. (C:\windows\system32 & c:\windows\syswow64)

Next create an empty bat file and paste in this code:

sc config PnkBstrA type= own type= interact

sc config PnkBstrB type= own type= interact
Save the bat file and run it as an administrator. (on every reboot)
Presto, no more error loading PBCL kicks!

well if you can play in some servers its okay, maybe some servers has problems...
Only today restart pc - modem

Test PunkBuster for error ?
C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Battlefield 3\pbsvc try run test

Just to add to this, we have another player who migrated to Windows 8 with the same issue. All our other players on Windows 7 don't have this problem. Seems specific to Windows 8.

It works fine in Windows 7. It's strange because the tests do pass in windows 8. Looks like we'll have to wait for an update from evenbalance.
