Questions about jet instruments

Hello,

I have been playing Battlefield for quite a while, I really like the jets in BF4, but I wondered something. If you go first person mode in a jet, you can see in the cockpit and the helmet of the pilot, there are some parameters displayed in the helmet, like the G-force and such. But I dont know what that M above the G-force describes and what it stands for (M for.... and it means....). I also know what that P is, its how much you ascend or descend, but is it in meters/second, or something else? And also, what does that P stand for?

You can see the altitude and speed as well, but is that altitude in meters? And that speed? In km/h? Or something else? I really like to know, because it would really help me fly even better.

Thank you for your help already!

  • Hi @SvSpComms ,

Yeah the EA team has really made so many fancy and an abundance of details available to us in the various game situations.  And the HUD (Heads Up Display) for when flying the jets is no exception!  :o)

So hereby some details to explain the various performance stats you see there:

Top left you see your airspeed in kilometers per hour (km/h.  I am based on European continent, so maybe different if in other locations with your settings?).

Top right you see your flying height in feet.

Lower to the left, you have the P, M and G that you also ask about.  They indicate:

P: Your Pitch of your airplane nose, in degrees up or down.  So if you in your longitudinal direction are pointing up or down.  0 (zero) is horizontal.  Watch out, as its hard to see the negative (minus) if flying through smoke/clouds/rain, etc...)  But you have the other instruments to check on for this also, including your roll...

M: This is the Mach-speed indicator.  So your speed in Mach value (1.0 being = the speed of sound).

G: The G-force indicator, so your total geforce extended on the vehicle and pilot.

Enjoy all the nerdy tech details that the programmers put into your cockpit.

Best wishes for some clear skies and tailwinds pilot !
