I've moved your post from the Hardline section to the Battlefield 3 section. My first question is whether the game is a new unopened\sealed in the plastic version since the Limited Edition was only available during the first run of the game back in 2011 so the odds of finding a new copy where the codes were not ever redeemed by a purchaser back in 2011 are rather slim.
If the game is used the code was used by the origin owner and you'll need to download the free online pass that does not contain the back to Karkand expansion via the BF3 in game store.
If the game was a new copy of the game but the code is still coming up as invalid then you'll need to speak with a game advisor. The GA can audit the code to see if it's ever been redeemed on any origin account. The GA may also ask you to substantiate that the game is new - you may have to see if your aunt if she has the receipt or he may ask for other proof.
