Re: BF1 mic not working in game

-Set audio input and output to the default device, disabled all other audio sources

-checked in game setting to make sure voip turned on

-checked microphone in windows sound settings.

-repaired game

-re installed game

-deleted the Origin folders in the program data folder as well as the local and roaming folders.

-checked windows privacy to make sure mic was being accessed by BF1(which it it, I just get no in game)

-restarted computer a few times after various procedures listed above.

-joined a bunch of different servers and hooked up with others that had mics. They were not able to hear me.

-I do get the active voice Icon when I use PTT in game just no audio.

-My mic works with all other games BFV, BF2042, BF4, BF2, BF3, BF2142, BF Bad Company2

-I updated the drivers for my interface,

-I checked in the firewall settings that I have BF1 completely free of security.

Most of this is mentioned already in my OP.

@SGTSHREDSTER, gotcha, thanks for listing the steps that you've tried already.

Just out of curiosity, is it maybe possible that you have enabled Dolby sound in-game or via the Windows settings?
  • hi, no, not enabled. it is so weird, it says my mic is being used for the game but it just won't work in game.

I have some Headphone Issues as well in BF1.

I have 2 Sound Devices, one is over HDMI to my TV and the other is my USB Headset.

In Windows i change the Sound Output to my Headphones when I play BF and I hear the game sounds all fine, but when someone wants to talk to me in my squad this is still put out on my TV.

Standard Device already is set to my Headset.

EDIT: Duh, found another very hidden Setting in the Device Manager, "Sound Systemsteuerung" Sound System Settings (?)  there you can set "Standard Device" and "Sandard Communications Device" for different Soundsystems in your .... system XD

Maybe this will make the difference.

@Pointi1978 Did this fix the issue for you?

  • HI, I didn't have to try that.

I use a Steinberg interface, I uninstalled it and did a clean install. It was apparently an updated driver that was not responding well to using it in Battlefield. I rolled the driver back to the one on y other computer and voila! I have in game chat again!! thanks for your help though. I appreciate it.
