  • CrazyThunderbird, the German copy doesn't include English.

You would need to buy a UK copy to play in English while living in continental Europe.

Hmm I've tried the same, changed every registry entry regarding the Hardline language to en_US, switched to english and US in Origin, and deleted the german files in the loc folder but it still downloads the german files -_-

Am I missing anything? The german localisation sucks... I mean it's not that bad at all but there are some character voices that are just UGGHHHHHHH, I hate it, it was the same with Dragon Age Origins until they released the english language pack.

    I don't get it, what's the problem?

    It clearly says:

Supported languages: Český, Deutsch (DE), English (US), Español (ES), Français (FR), Italiano, 日本語, 한국어, Polski, Português (BR), Русский язык, 中文(繁體

Thats a lie... the version I bought only supports German out of the box...

If there is a region lock regarding the language settings it should be stated on the Origin store page for the game.

Edit: Now it works, don't know why but it's downloading the English files. Still it shouldn't be needed to change the language and country settings in Origin AND modify the registry to get another language in a game.

Edit edit: Maybe this helps somebody. It seems that the Profile settings in Origin don't matter, only thing that needs to be changed is the Origin Client Language: http://prntscr.com/6ioip8

And unfortunately the registry entries regarding the Hardline language. http://prntscr.com/6ion9h

Be sure to change all registry entries regarding Hardline, there are more than one.

Don't forget to delete the language files that are already installed.

  • @Chiikken Yes, the client language is the important thing. Also, it is important to remember that if you change the language settings after the game is installed, it will not get affected. You need to change the language of the client and then install the game with the new settings.

Nah, I just deleted the ..\BFH\Data\Win32\Loc folder and changed everything regarding the language. Origin only downloaded the english language files, no need to reinstall the whole game 🙂

  • Fair enough, but I guess for less advanced users, re-install would be easier 😕mileywink: Also, for future reference.....good to know 😕mileywink:

For reference, languages offered should always be present on the relevant Origin store page. If you want the game to install in a specific language (provided it is available on your copy of the game), set the language of your Origin client to that language through the application settings, save and relog into Origin, then proceed to download as normal.

You can change Origin language settings again once the game installation is complete if you so wish. 🙂

So how does this work on PS4? I have a Japanese copy of Hardline but I want to play with English audio. Text/Subs aren't a problem, I just don't want American FBI, SWAT and gangsters speaking Japanese.

I live in Poland and i hate PL locale. I don't even understand what the settings mean in Polish! I have my Origin client in English and the only options for BFH installation are Polish and Russian. Had no such problems with BF3 or BF4 before. I also tried the registry trick, even couple of times, but it doesn't work. After reinstalling I still have the PL files in the BFH/Data/Win32/Loc. Also the registry settings go back to Polish.

Can You help in fixing the issue?

Will it work if I just hard copy the enUS Loc and GDF binary dll files into the folder? EDIT: I mean from someone's game
