What have you tried to fix it? I recommend trying to following steps:
1. From the Origin games library right click the BF3 icon and select "repair"
2. Manually update Punkbuster by downloading the latest file from evenbalance.com even if it says it's up to date run the utility anyway and then after that is finished manually add BF3 to Punkbuster.I tried both ...
When I change the settings of Unicode, other problems ... (Japanese non-unicode app Mojibake)
The same problem had occurred at any BF4, but modified.
Please fix also BF3..
very tired..
Yeah, well, the thing is that if you have the computer set to a non-English system locale, the game throws a DirectX error because the unicode character TM in the title can't be read properly. However, if you patch the game and remove it, the punkbuster kicks you and you eventually get the error listed here.
The question is if EA is going to release a patch for this or if there's any fix, because I, like many others, need to be on a non-English system locale to use other programs that require it regularly. It's a bit of a pain to keep rebooting every time you want to play, or whenever you're done playing. I can't access those programs that I use while playing on English locale, either. The problem seems to be Windows 8/8.1 exclusive. I can run the game just fine on Windows 7 on JP locale, but just not my laptop which runs Windows 8.1. Others getting the DirectX error also seem to be on WIndows 8/8.1. This same problem was also present during the Battlefield 4 beta, and was present up until a certain point in the full release (or at least I think they patched it... It may still be present. That thread he linked says that BF4 was fixed, I believe.) Hence the link for the Japanese thread with a fix. There's a file for download that patches the game so that it can be played, but, again, it causes the punkbuster issue.
Oh, and if this counts as a necro, my apologies. Thought it would be easier to reply here. Hasn't been that long, has it?
