Battlefield has never been a war simulation game, given it's been more realistic than COD or Gears of War or Halo but it's always had teamwork and fun as it's goal instead of realism hence things like damage, health, capabilities etc have been balanced buffed or nerfed for a better player experience since BF1942- which also was not a simulation. May I recommend the Arma series if you are looking for a game closer to the simulation category?
Also many would argue that War Thunder is more arcadey than World of Warplanes and as previously mentioned BF1942 was definitely arcadey, so are you looking for a bonafide sim or just something more realistic than BF4?
