Same here, no effect from switching off in game origin.
Keep getting: " directx device creation error "
If I reinstall the GPU driver the game plays fine, after the next reboot the issue is back.
I.e. each time I wan to play BF4 I have to reinstall my GPU drivers.
GPU= AMD HD 6800
CPU 3.2ghz phenom II quadcore
RAM 4 GB
DX11 is on the machine, all other games are fine..
Catalyst 14 beta running. ( Official 13.12 same effect )
What I have tried:
Uninstall / re-install of BF4, no effect
Uninstall / re-install of GPU driver, BF4 works again. Untill after the next reboot.
Turned off Windows automatic driver download, no effect.
Reinstall of DX, no effect.Changed from Chrome browser, to IE11, no effect
Turned off in game Origin, no effect.

I have the same problem and I am running DirectX 11. It seems the error is false, so I guess it is a bug in the BF4 software. Anybody solved this problem with succes?
I played it ...then I upgraded the driver to the latest 14.4 WHQL Catalyst driver on my HD7850. Now I get the same error message ☹️ grrrrr. But I tried to launch the X86 version (properties in Origin games) and the game launch correctly..but can't change settings other then low-res! Electronic Arts where are you? What can we do to fix it? I deleted the settings folder..nothing...is there a command line or so?
Tonyshark78 do this:
-Go to C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\Battlefield 4\settings and delete the file "PROFSAVE_profile" (or you could just move it somewhere else on your PC for safekeeping). This will also reset keybindings and graphics settings so you will need to do them again when you launch the game.
already tried that. This is the window I get:

I'm on Windows 8.1 with Catalyst 14.4 WHQL...
Did you do a clean install of your drivers?
Did you try reinstalling DirectX?
Do a repair install of the game?
-make sure that you've updated your drivers to latest version/revert to a previous driver
If AMD then go to its website and do the same. http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
In either case, choose a 'clean install' (usually in the advanced install options)-Do a repair install of the game in Origin. In origin right-click your game and from the drop down menu choose 'repair' install.
-Reinstall DirectX.
1:go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4\__Installer\directx\redist
2:Find file named DXSETUP.exe and right click on it and choose RUN AS ADMINISTRTOR. Install it. It should update your DirectX install.
3: You might need to reboot computer first.
4: try to launch game.
clean install of drivers: I uninstalled previous drivers, rebooted and installed latest drivers.
reinstalling DirectX: already tried
repairing game: already tried
Tony, did you try ?:
-Run the game as ADMINISTRATOR.
Go to the Origin games folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4) and find Bf4.exe. Right click it and go to PROPERTIES, then COMPATIBILITY and tick the box next to RUN THIS PROGRAM AS ADMINISTRATOR.
Make sure that you do not have the box ticked next to 'RUN THIS PROGRAM IN COMPATIBILITY MODE FOR'.
Do the same with BF4_x86.exe as well.
-Run Origin as Administrator
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin and right click on Origin.exe and go to properties. Then go to compatability tab and tick the box next to RUN AS ADMIN.

The software (Dx11) doesn't count. Only the GPU makes the difference.
just tried...nothing ☹️
Tonyshark78, could you post your PC's specs please?
yes:
AMD FX8350 4GHz
16GB DDR
Asus Sabertooth 990fx
Club3D HD7850 1GB
Creative SB Audigy 2
HDD & SSD
Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center (x64)
I've played before this game with this PC...and it was running very good...my last hope is trying to downgrade my catalyst drivers :/
I managed how to get it working again!
I uninstalled Catalysts 14.4, cleaned all with DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) and installed latest Catalyst 14.6 beta and magically BF4 works again! YEAHHH!

Hi guys,
I have a Gforce 1080Ti and get same error, not always, only sometimes.
I´ve solved it by terminating windows session and logginin again.
If error returns repeat procedure. A pain in the * but it works for now.
Hope this helped.
