Re: Horrendous lag with 4 squares popping up in top right.

Which console are you playing on?

If you are playing on the Xbox One, you may want to try a hard reset - turn off the console, unplug for around 10 seconds and boot it up

If you are on the Xbox 360 and it is installed, you might want to delete and reinstall

PS3/PS4 I am not sure if they have similar solutions to the above, buf if you are alone on this issue, you might want to try these options and start from scratch.

    PS3

    BF4 premium

    comcast cable 40mbps DL / 20mbps UL

    PS3 connected via etheret

    netgear WNDR4300 router

having that lag/rubberbanding too really bad to where its not even playable online.

i never had that problem prior to the jan 30 patch.ived deleted and reinstalled everything, rebooterdand hard booted my PS3,router, double checked my IPadd., DNS,upnp, drivers and still no go.

i only play on the east and west coast servers. Alot of people have said that its the netcode thats messed up. maybe has something to do with the latest patch but thats when everything started for me. after i installed the latest patch.

And please dont say its my internet connetion because ived tried other online games including my BF3 and it worked fine.

heres more proof..ill even let you log on to my battlelog account and you can see my games ived played prior to the patch that im very consistent with my kills, scores and always on the top 5 (mostly 1ST) in my team and all the games IVED TRIED to play after jan 30 patch, eaither im in the middle or dead last or did not finish the game( mostly didnt finish the game) cause of this bad netcode/gamecode.

Alright, I think I might have somewhat of a solution for you.

I know you are on a ps3, but you may be able to get somewhere with this help I received:

I called Microsoft to help with my Xbox One connection. Apparently, your ISP can actually block/throttle your connection pending on what server you are connecting (in this case, EA). I didn't believe him until we looked into it further. ISPs are doing this and we are not aware, and can account for a lot of connection problems.

If you can get on the phone with your ISP, tell them one specific game is experiencing trouble and you suspect it is related to what they do when you try to connect - they should be able to escalate you to a manager or someone who is better on the subject, and using a computer you should be able to troubleshoot this. I understand COMCAST in my region is notorious for this behavior, and it takes a lot of talking on the phone to get them to "open" certain parameters to allow a clean connection.

You may also wish to call EA and see if you can't get the IPs of where your PS3 is connecting so you can test. On your PC you will want to run a TRACE ROUTE (go to start>run> type 'cmd' and enter 'tracert xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx') you can then see if it is getting hung out while you go out to the servers.

Based on what you said, I am willing to bet this is what you are experiencing. I would not get off the phone with your ISP until it is working.

One last thing you might want to try is to DMZ your PS3 to see if that makes any difference at all.
