Re: LAG PS3 BF3

If you're having lag, have you tried opening up the ports on your router? Also, since you're on a PS3, go to your internet browser on your PS3, press triangle and go up to Tools. From there go down and you should see four options that say delete (cache, cookies and two others I forget) and delete all four of those. After that go over to your settings on the XMB and down to Network Settings. Scroll all the way down and disable the Media Server Connection. I've heard that causes a lot of lag on PS3's. If it's still giving you trouble, I'd recommend taking a look at the ports on your router. I'll include them below.

If you are playing on PC, please enable the following online ports on your connection:
TCP: 80, 443, 9988, 20000-20100, 22990, 17502, 42127
UDP: 3659, 14000-14016, 22990-23006, 25200-25300

If you are playing on PS3, please enable the following online ports on your connection:
TCP: 80, 443, 9988, 10000-10100, 17502, 42127
UDP: 3659, 14000-14016

If you are playing on Xbox 360, please enable the following online ports on your connection:
TCP: 53, 88, 3074
UDP: 53, 88, 3074

For specific instructions on how to open your ports, please visit http://www.portforward.com/ or contact your router manufacturer.

You definitely need a type II NAT to play the game. You also need to cycle your modem regularly by unplugging it for a minute and letting it recieve all the updates most IPs put out. You also have to remember that there are a lot of people that play on these servers that cause the lag. EA/DICE needs to make the servers region restricted to fix this. I'm in the U.S., so when someone from Europe jumps in an East U.S. server, their ping is sky high and creates lag.

  • He makes a good point, but also since you're on PS3, try making a new PSN ID with a new email address and play a few games and see if that helps out at all. If it does, you may have an issue with the account itself. This is kind of a long shot, but worth a try.
