Re: no sound at all in Battlefield 4 PC.

Thanks Zorlacc for your reply but what you told me didn't help, and the second part about the cfg file, i tried that numerous times.

I even went to chat with tech support and they told me to use REvo uninstaller to remove BF4, which i did and then reinstall it, boot the game without DLC and see if it worked, it didn't.

This pesky problem sounds like a keeper.

  • No dont give up its not a keeper issue 😕mileywink:

Try this go into my documents folder, BF4 settings, Open PROFSAVE_profile with word pad

Change GSTAudioQuality to 1 and save if its already 1 then change it to 4 and save then test BF4

Did a edit so CheshireMoe can try this as well.😕mileyhappy:

    tried that to Zorlacc 🙂

    didn't work ☹️

  • Try this...

    1. open control panel
    2.go to sound
    3. click at the speaker, open properties
    4.go to advanced tab
5.try changing the default format of the audio quality, e.g. to 24 bit, 44100hz (studio quality)

Edit... if this fails try this...Worked for another with same issue

    1. Switch default playback device from speakers Realtek digital out put and back to speakers.

    2. Turn off Asus sonic master and close the application . I think most probably this was the issue. If you dont have this software , try turning off any audio enhancement software that you might have.

here is what i tried on sound settings in windows.

switched between my 2 sound devices. (razer kraken headset and a Logitech Z-5500 5.1 surround sound set.)

both give no audio in BF4.

i uninstalled the crappy (razer) driver and tried again, no effect.

i disconnected my speaker set which is connected by a optical cable, still no sound through the headset, tried other way around, no effect.

reinstalled the driver from razer, no effect.

Every piece of sound my pc can possibly make plays.. on any program or any website possible.. it works.

    just not in BF4.

Btw, my headset doesnt have the studio quality option, dvd quality is max.

i dont have the asus sonic master either.

  • And I take it you checked for a driver update for the  Logitech Z-5500 5.1 as well.

We just need to find the correct fix for your pc :/

ok found this also semi same thing you tried but do this it worked for someone else.

    C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\Documents\Battlefield 4\settings
Open "PROFSAVE_profile" with Notepad or Wordpad
    Replace:
    GstAudio.AudioQuality 1
    With:
    GstAudio.AudioQuality 0

And Im adding save this reboot pc test bf4

    thing is,

I dont use my logitech speakers to game with, i only use it for the music and they dont have a seperate driver from logitech, so there's not much to update for them i'm affraid.

I'm gunna try that same change in the config file again and reboot, ill let you know more when i'm back.

Rebooted the pc, but still no sound.

  • update this stuff

Latest version of DirectX see this page
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/confirmation.aspx?id=35

    Reinstall Microsoft C++
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=30679

    Update your Microsoft .NET framework.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=30653

    Adobe Flash Player update
    http://get.adobe.com/de/flashplayer/

    Reboot test BF4 fingers crossed

Edit .....and found a more info for this area again worth a shot ...

    goto the folder documents/battlefield 4/settings
    and find the file PROFSAVE_profile

change the line GstAudio.AudioQuality 0(may be different)
    to:GstAudio.AudioQuality 4

this changes it to wartapes quality audio

then find the line with GstAudio.SoundSystemSize 20(may be diff)
and change it to GstAudio.SoundSystemSize 64
or GstAudio.SoundSystemSize 32(if your sound card is cheapo)

this changes the amount of audio channels BF4 can use, 20 is really really low, which means in big audio situations with alot going on, the sounds get cut off.

and this one is optional, GstAudio.StereoMode 0
    to GstAudio.StereoMode 1

so to recap the lines should be:

    GstAudio.AudioQuality 4
    GstAudio.SoundSystemSize 64
    GstAudio.StereoMode 1

allright, as an added bonus, i'm gunna get the latest gpu driver aswell with mantle support for my R9 280X.

    wish me luck!

  • lol Good luck but stay away from mantel it makes issues just now :/

    I did find this...

    • Audio problem occur due to poor sound driver. So the initial setup is to get new sound drivers which you can find from the motherboard manufacturer’s website.
    • Reducing sound acceleration is also good way to resolve the problem. You can do that through dxdiag. Press Windows + R from your keyboard and in the run box type dxdiag. In that go in the sound section and reduce sound acceleration.
    • If you have a NO Sound issue then go in Control Panel > Hardware and Sound and in that click on Sound. You have to look for Communication tab here. In that click on the last thing which says Do Nothing and then click on OK.
    • The same issue can also be fixing by settings the audio channel to stereo. For that in the same section go in Playback tab. Click on your current audio device and click on Configure. Then change the audio channel to Stereo. Exist the game and start it once again.

    blegh...

The audio driver for my mobo isn't supported by W8, it worked before but the latest update is from 2009.

    Sound acceleration didn't work.

Making windows not to do anything with my sound when something else uses my speakers/headset, didn't do the trick either.

setting it to stereo didn't work.

    *cries intensly*

what a perfect moment to quit smoking... really.

  • Awww man this is harsh  I will have a e cig or cig for ya lol You gave me a idea to try win 8 NICE

Read  all of this try first part if this is a no go then try this part...

    dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth ------- ONLY works for windows 8 and 8.1

Also I got mad at win 7 fully hate it now and used to love it back in the day. Long story short Alien laptop put win8.1 on it and no drivers so what I could not hunt down I installed win7 drivers in Compatibility mode and it worked so can also try this with  your M/B sound driver.

    Test your windows for errors
This works in all windows O/S vista Win7, Win8 and Win8.1 windows system file checker :] Copy and past this to note pad and put it on your desktop. As open programs can give you errors when you run this.

...... sfc /scannow ..... ever hear of it if not your going to love this .... it will inspect all the important windows files as well as the windows DLL files. If windows system file checker finds any issues with the windows files and windows DLL files it will replace them. This little tool as well as the event viewer saved me and fully helped me fix my BF4 issues as well as saved my .... many a format since I found it. This is the best toy they ever put in windows :]

For win7 go to start left click in search type cmd and right click cmd pick run as admin

For win 8.1 right click start bottom left of screen and pick command prompt admin

1 - Open administrator command prompt and close web pages and programs like origin.

2 - Type or copy and paste in sfc /scannow and hit enter, This takes 5 min to 15 min SSD vs HD

3 - This can go one of a few ways ..... no errors ... it fixed some errors ..... could not fix all errors...... does not finish checking and errors out ....... and the last one could not fix errors at all :/

4 -After its done reboot and do it again even if you had no errors the first time or had errors, could not fix ... run sfc /scannow again and when its done a second time reboot. You need to do this a and get no errors 2 x in a row ...

5- So if you ran it 2x and no errors your safe you can stop now for now lol, If you had errors first time but not the second then run sfc /scannow again and when its done reboot. You need to get could not find any errors 2 x to be safe. If it still finds errors try and run it a few more times until it finds no errors 2x AND ALWAYS REBOOT BETWEEN RUNNING sfc /scannow

6 - If you get a message indicating that it can not be repaired and you ran sfc /scannow more then 3x in a row on win vista or 7 mm you need a format or try repair win 7 :/ But after format or repair and all updates are done run sfc /scannow to make sure your windows is stable same deal 2x error free reboot between them.

If your O/S is Win8 or Win 8,1 then you can run this next command / line in administrator command prompt. Sadly this does not work for win vista or 7 :/ It will restore the health of your PC and you dont lose anything and it will also fix errors in the registry :]

    dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth ------- ONLY works for windows 8 and 8.1

7 - When its done reboot

sorry buddy, no errors, no sound.

  • It was worth a shot ...did you run both command lines and did you try to install the win7 m/b sound driver in Compatibility mode and then run it in Compatibility mode?

    yep.

but then again.. it worked without that before.

  • And you tried repair game and  or game update in the past and its done nothing? If you have or have not I would try it again. The only other thing I was reading on this is to disable the on board sound in bios :/ but I cant see  how this would help if its your only sound on the PC. edit...

CHKDSK utility will try and recover or fix any data or installation errors. This can take a few hrs. SSD vs HD

zorlacc, i really appreciate what you're doing but i'm not going to check my whole pc for just one game.

this is just something that EA/DICE is going to have to fix.

everything else works just fine except bf4, so i doubt there's something wrong with my pc.

    thanks for everything!

  • Well fair enough fully your choice on all of this. But just to give you a heads up when I had issues in BF4 I had a issue in windows but had no clue on it as errors only showed up in BF4 😕mileysurprised:  I was not until I took a good hard look at my PC and windows was I able to fully fix the game. Yes it was a pain to do and it took me a long time to get my PC good to go as I hunted down a fix for every error in event viewer and fixed them all.

Have you ever tried to talk with EA staff reg this as they may have a fix for this ...

I would contact an Electronic Arts Battlefield 4 technical support agent here:
    http://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/new/?product=battlefield-4
Pick the device you need help with.
Select the topic your problem falls under, and provide some more information on the issue.
Select 'Live Chat' or 'Call Me' depending on what is available, and what you would prefer.
If you can use call me as it has always been fast when I had to use it.

    Or use this

You can contact EA here: http://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/
