Hmm, why is it not possible for you to add a - or _ to your Origin ID? Will adding a - or _ to your Origin ID result in an error message? Have you tried changing your Origin ID via the website or Origin client?

In fact, I know someone who has recently changed their Origin ID and it now includes a _, so in general this should be possible, I guess.
