Re: Ping issues/Same ping after upgrading my internet provider.
Upgrading the speed of your internet does not lower the ping unless you use your entire connection which causes buffering. So, if the only thing using the internet is Battlefield your upgrade should not improve your ping. What really determines the ping can be simplified to 2 things:
- The length between you and your target, in this case you and the Battlefield 4 server you are playing on
- The technology involved between you and the target
The first one is simple, a signal takes more time from A to B depending on the length between the two.
The second one is more complicated. The most important is the technology used between you and your ISP's backbone - how many routers and switches do you have to go through? Are you connected to the Backbone using tv cables? telephone copper wiress? Fiber obtics?
So, if you upgraded your internet to get lower ping that might not have been the best idea, however it should not have lowered your ping either. When you test with speedtest.net make sure you are using the same server each time and that no and nothing other is using the connection. Also never game or test your Internet using a wireless connection.
