Re: Terrain Invisible and Map Glitching

Ok, somethings to try:

-Do a repair install of the game in Origin. In origin right click your game and from drop down choose repair install.

-make sure that you've updated your drivers to latest version.
If its Nvidia then go to the Nvidia website and download the latest graphics driver. http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us
If AMD then go to its website and do the same. http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
Choose a 'clean install' (usually in the advanced install options)
If the problem only began after updating your graphics driver then try reverting to a previous driver (again choosing 'clean install)
If using Mantle drivers on AMD and crashing in X64 version then -Go to C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\Battlefield 4\settings and delete the file "PROFSAVE_profile" (or you could just move it somewhere else on your PC for safekeeping). This will also reset keybindings so you will need to do them again when you launch the game.

-Reinstall DirectX.
1:go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4\__Installer\directx\redist
2:Find file named DXSETUP.exe and right click on it and choose RUN AS ADMINISTRTOR. Install it. It should update your DirectX install.
3: You might need to reboot computer first.
4: try to launch game.

Thank you for your response and your time.  I Have an HP Pavillion G7 Series laptop, so the graphics card (Intel HD Family something or other) cannot be replaced by another more powerful graphics card (Nvidia, AMD, etc) as it is incorporated into the laptop itself.  This unfortunately means I could do neither of the options regarding the msot recent update for the more beefy guys, however, I did update my graphics driver and nothing changed.

I "fixed" the game through Origin and attained to different results. I think re-installed DirectX through the location you gave me and recieved no change in results... :/  I'm stumped and frustrated.  At this point, it's as if I blew $60 for absolutely nothing.

  • Hi again, try lowering all your graphics settings to as low as possible and play the game in 800X600 windowed mode and see if things improve.

    If still no change then:

You can check if your computer can actually play BF4 by visiting this link http://systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/battlefield-4/11804/?p=a

Now, while its probably not the most accurate website in the world it will at least give you some idea of what might be wrong with your computer.

I've seen people playing the game with Intel graphics (albeit on lower settings and with not the best FPS in the world) but the game is designed for more powerful dedicated graphics cards.

Let us know how you get on.

After turning the graphics settings down to all Low and bumping the resolution to 1024x768 (The lowest it would let me take it down), I noticed a significant change in the times that I see this issue.  I spend more time seeing the environment and actually playing the game and less time not being able to see or do much of anything.  However the problem is still persisting, just not as often, and that even isn't saying much.  I went to that website and it said I fall just short of meeting the minimum requirements, but I don't know how accurate that is.  If I can see the map at all, wouldn't that imply that my GPU is strong enough?  Maybe I don't knwo enough about this stuff, but that would be my assumption.

  • Hi again porkchop, seeing the map is one thing but actually running around with 64 players/explosions/jets flying overhead - all at the same time - is another matter!

To be honest I don't personally think you will really get enjoyment of BF4 with that integrated card.

I'd suggest having a look on YouTube at some videos of others playing the game with your Intel card (HD3000) and maybe read through the comments sections to see how others fare. It'll give you a much beter idea of what to expect and maybe some tips to improve your playing pleasure.
