I think that it worked like this, because heli-to-heli direct impact is not supposed to be counted as damage dealt by pilot. As far as I know it works that way for all the vehicles except fuel tanker, which gets a certain ramming bonus. Thus, it considered your ramming attempt as an object-object collision, which does not take the crew into consideration, thus not giving any kills (resulting in suicide for the side that lost).
