Recon takes PLD deep into enemy lines while I sit with the MBT and guided shells well behind friendly lines.
He paints targets way outside my normal range. I am talking 600-800 metres away (we will be testing ranges today) and we are cleaning up, it's brutal as I get tanks firing on me with regular shells but at those distances they hardly ever hit and I can easily see them incoming and move.
I haven't seen anyone else using this technique and it works beautifully.
Ideally we will be setting up a squad with 1 painter + 2 MBTs so each time the enemy has 2 points of contact to deal with and if we both hit from the MBTs then they are an instant kill.
OK @Harl3quin ,
You appear then indeed to have the comfy job of you two and you are even the one also cashing in all the associated kills then. :o)
Dont know if you already play together using a headset, because that definitely is a great advantage also to ensure you focus on the same enemy points and helps each other about the coordination of the shelling.
But if you are 'just' working on such relative short distances, then I would probably even suggest instead for your friend to stay with you in your tank, to both use the SOFLAM from there and help to keep tedious enemy infantry at bay. Also easier for your tank mate you understand your current actions as the drive of it and your readiness/awareness on what next target should be engaged and when. He can then also at times jump out and either repair your tank as required or also help to double-hammer enemy vehicles with RPG when its getting intense with multiple enemy vehicles.
Dont know what game platform that you are on, but on PlayStation you see many servers running like aka Golmud or Firestorm, where the teams are heavily engaged in using exact this strategy! Matter of fact, so much so, that some servers even have a rule forbidding its usage...
So maybe something for your friend and you to try and search for and team up with other similar minded there, as it is indeed an intense and great fun way of the vehicle battles when the teams are working together in this way!
We're actively looking for other players.
With recon using PLD at a distance it increases the range of the guided shell from 500 to 650 so we can easily take out any heavy armour or indeed air coming in but it does require 1 recon and 2 tanks due to the 10 second reload on the guided shells.
We then let infantry move in and take the point.
In one game we took and helped hold 3 points as we had the tanks positioned in such a way that anything incoming got 2 shots on it as soon as it came into range, all they could do was send in fast jets and maybe some infantry which our team easily took out.
