Scroll Wheel for Weapons and Gadgets

Last I knew, the scroll wheel in BF1 only scrolls weapons, and gadgets need to be activated by pressing 3 or 4.  In BF4, the wheel activates all weapons, gadgets, the knife, and the grenade. I hear that both BF3 and BFH were the same.  I haven't seen any recent threads on the net on this, nor here.  Anyone know if this is going to be fixed, or maybe already has?  I tried the game out over the holidays, but found it unplayable due to that oversight and some other issues.  Thanks.

Hello @NefariousDoubleJ and thank you for this feedback on the control scheme. Currently no official announcements were made if this is going to change in the future. What are the others issues you were having with Battlefield 1?

    Cheers,

    Archi

That's disappointing to hear, and is a deal breaker for me on BF1.

As for the other issues, I came into the game at level 1 obviously, and the game claimed it was pairing me with like-skilled players, and constantly landed me in games full of guys in the 80s and 90s.  Being dead more than you're alive (and having a K/D of something like 3-100 after 6 hours of play) pretty much remove the fun from the game.

One-shot to the body sniper rifles.  I understand that's slightly more realistic than BF4, but again, being dead the whole time isn't fun.

Gas/Grenade spamming.  I'm sure DICE is aware of that issue, as it's being talked about non stop on the internet, and I found it somewhat frustrating in my short time of playing.

The rest of my frustration was simply learning a new game, which is unavoidable, but I still felt like I should have had a smoother transition from BF4 to BF1, but it just seems they changed too much to keep it smooth....almost like BF4 was made for PC, and BF1 was made for console, if that makes sense.  If the controls were the same, and I could switch back and forth between the two games without re-learning them, I might give BF1 another try, but as it stands, I'll be passing on it.

    Hello @NefariousDoubleJ

And thank you for this feedback. It is always interesting to get the opinion from the people who played (and I guess enjoyed) Battlefield 4 before jumping into Battlefield 1. You are right, it is always tough to get a hand of any new game, but as for Battlefield 1 it was worth the time for me. First few hours were also tough for me, with spending more time dead, then on the actual battle field, but I learned few tricks quickly enough to become pretty decent in the game. Thank you for this post anyway, I will add your feedback to my usual report.

    Cheers,

    Archi

  • @EA_Archi I am just getting into BF1 after years of playing BF4. I only have two fingers on my left hand, so being able to use scroll wheel to change to gadgets is EXTREMELY important. How can I do this?

I'm closing this thread to stop it from being necroed.

@ConanDLibrarian  unfortunately you can only scroll for weapons or gadgets and not both, sorry to say it was never set up for doing both.
