hey i've been having the same problem. ive downloaded bf3 before from the same internet connection and never had this problem. it's been about a week. a lot of the people have been having the same problem. i downloaded arma 2 simultaneously while downloading bf3 and i got 1.3 MB/s constantly. it's just orign. i get 120 KB/s with origin. i've been trying to reach out to EA regarding this issue, but they're too **bleep** arrogant to fix this issue. if this is the case, i won't pre-order bf4 at all. i've checked everything from turning off firewalls, to changing DNS servers. everything. it's orign's problem. and i don't think they're going to fix this. i posted this issue on this forum yesterday but no one replied. i was astonished that varioous EA community managers answered the question after me and before but never answered my question.
Hello all,
This will be due to the Akamai Content Delivery system Origin uses for it's content distribution.
The only help I can give you is to read and follow these guidelines linked here http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/7576794.page
Note: Even after following the guidelines linked above your speed will probably not change.
Tip: After the download is complete it's advised to make a backup/save of the Battlefield 3 folder which is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3
You could then use the backup/save of the Battlefield 3 folder in future to quickly install Battlefield 3 following the below instructions.
Installing Battlefield 3 using a backup/save of the Battlefield 3 folder!
Run/Open the Origin client click the My Games tab/button.
Within the Origin client right click Battlefield 3 and select Download.
When the Battlefield 3 download has started select Pause.
Locate the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games".
Move/Drag the Battlefield 3 Folder you have saved into the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games".
If asked to Replace/Overwrite click Yes.
Resume the Download in the Origin client.
Done!

This is ridiculous! 6 hours (only 10% downloaded) and has said 44 hours to go for most of that time. I could have driven to the shop, bought it, come home installed and been playing for hours. FIX YOUR SERVER ORIGIN!
I WILL NEVER BUY AN ORIGIN GAME ONLINE AGAIN, AND POSSIBLY NEVER AN ORIGIN GAME EITHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello revkevgt,
EA don't have their own content delivery system for content distribution through the Origin client.

Hello Frozusa,
Sorry, I'm not sure what you're saying. Is there somewhere else better to download EA games from online? If not, then EA & Origin need to take responsibility for the poor delivery system. At least warn people it will take days to download online purchases. 10 hours for 17%, and still estimated 43 hours to go is not acceptable.

It's not Origin's fault and it would happed with any other digital download client such as Steam. There could be any number of factors affecting your donwload speed such as your local interet provider throttling large downloads, the internet package that you bought (some packages offer faster donwload and upload speeds for paying more per month) or generally slow internet in certain regions. In order to maximize your download speed ensure that your PC is hardwired into your router instead of using wireless, and try to download at off peak hours since the most people are playing games, downloading videos and wathcing net flicks during the6:00-10:00 PM time frame which takes up ISP bandwidth and slows your download speeds. Also make sure that your PC isn't being used for anything else durig the download because using the computer will take up system resources and slow the donwload speed.
I have verizon FIOS fiber optic internet and it will took 4 hours to donwload all of the Premium expansion packs (not counting the base game which was already installed), just be patient and it will eventually download.
Hello revkevgt,
EA use the Akamai Content Delivery system for it's content distribution through the Origin client.
@ragnarok013, Regardless of persons download speed the above system fails for many people to distribute content at a decent download speed.
example: Many of the people complaining have 10Mbit/s+ connections but the above content distribution system is only allowing 1Mbit/s and below.
1Mbit/s = 0.125MB/128KB

Forgot to say thanks frozusa for the install from backup tip. At least I won't have to go through all this again when I get my new PC in a couple of days.
Thanks frozusa.
Downloading on my connection normally sees speeds >300kb/sec, and the origin download is 90 to 100kb/sec, so the problem is at their end, not the connection.
Thanks for the tips ragnarok013, but my PC is on LAN and not doing anything else but downloading this file. Hopefully overnight the transfer rate will increase dramatically.
@revkevgt, No problem.
Until EA setup their own content delivery system for the Origin client then this issue/problem is going to be an occuring question.
