[Solved] I want to create a symlink for bf4 CAS files for faster map loading.

Edit:

After some research it looks like I've found an easy answer! Even specifying that you don't need all the cas files for loading.
I won't be using a flash drive as mensioned in the instructions but I'll work it out from there.

Original question below:

Hello, I don't really know where else to ask for this specific topic.

I have a solid state drive on my computer as the primary drive that windows 7 lives on. The drive is only 120gb and has about 32gb remaining to chew up. The game and all my other origin software is on a local 3TB Hard disk that isn't exactly the fastest thing compared to a solid state drive when it comes to load times on first person shooters.

I wish to create a symbolic link for Battlefield 4's CAS files to load off of while leaving the core of the game on the 3TB drive. So basically I want to move the cas files (20~GB) to my solid state drive and leave the rest of the game back on the 3TB one. Only taking what's important when it comes to loading fast so the SSD doesn't get congested.

I just want to know if this is something that will work out. Will the game get upset or anything like that or can I expect no problems? I haven't used symbolic linking on video games before and don't know if its going to freak out when it sees a <1kb symlink based file instead of its 1GBx20 .cas files.

Can anybody guide me a little with how the game will react?

Thanks 🙂
