Sound goes missing every 10 seconds or so. More often the more people on the server.

As the title says. My sound is mostly fine when playing on small servers. But when more stuff starts happening, the sound cuts off completely, only to return a litte while later. Sound may be missing for about 5 sec at a time. Sometimes, only a part of the soundworld dissapears. Eg. all gunfire or tank engine goes missing.

Googling around, people have suggested changing some values in PROFSAVE_profile, namely "GstAudio.AudioQuality". This has had no effect.

I recall having the same issue in BF3, but much more rarely. Now it happens in every minute of gameplay.

Specs as follows.
ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO
Phenom 2 x4 955 @3,8GHz
ASUS HD6970, Catalyst 13.11
Win 8.1 and Win 7, no difference.

Does not matter if I use my USB headset or my speakers. I've updated motherboard audio drivers to their latest (2010) version.

Thanks

So now I've also tried an older motherboard audio driver. No effect.

Hey man, is your problem like this video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEd-czmDny8

If so, probably the problem is the cpu overclock, bf4 have some problem with Phenom overclock, and the sound only work fine if run cpu at stock clock.

The tip is to you turn back the clock to stock and play the game to see if work.

This guy come with same problem and have a phenom 960t overclocked to 3.8ghz:

Him follow my tip and say the sound worked fine now, try that.

Oh well yes, that video is spot on!

I guess it doesn't happen for all OCd phenoms, because I know they were very popular processors back in 2010 and everyone was OCing them! You'd think there would be more reports of this sound bug if all of them experienced it.

I'll have to revert to stock clock to confirm it works. (After the holidays)

    Thanks a bunch! :robotvery-happy:

I see other people posting in forum with phenom overclocked and no one complaining about sound issue, so you right few phenom owners like me and the anoother guy from topic i posted is having this glitch and i dont know why exactly since anothers components of him is all different from my pc, i hope Dice make something to fix it but that happens to me since Beta, so it's 2 months and no address to fix yet.

Them only fix problems of the majority and few people isolated issues get forgotten. Of course there are so many bugs and problems with the game since launch day than them focus in the bigger issues for now, when the big bugs get behind maybe them start fix minority ones.

Can confirm, reverting back to stock clock speeds on CPU solves the sound issue.

I have just discovered the same issue.  What the heck is going on here?  I have a Phenom II x4 955 BE (black edition) which is meant to be easily overclocked with multipliers... Why would this 1 game have problems like this unless its implementing sound in a weird way?  I don't have this issue with Borderlands 2, Rocket League, hell even old games like Duke Nukem 3d don't have this issue...

I think perhaps there needs to be a serious look into the sound subsystem on BF4 and how its working.  I also don't have this issue in BF3 at all... SO something definitely has been changed.

DICE Please look into this issue further or respond here with more info on whats going on?
