Stuttering and severe fps drops

So I have done literally everything that people have told me to do to try and fix this and nothing is working. Basically, whenever a play battlefield 1 my fps is literally averaging at 10 to the point where it is unplayable. But Battlefield 4 runs perfectly fine and so does every other game on my laptop. I have a Dell G7 7588 gaming laptop and all my specs are above the requirements. I have all my drivers updated, I adjusted everything in Nvidia control panel, and I adjusted everything in the in game settings in Battlefield 1. I feel like I have tried everything at this point and this is frustrating. This never used to happen a while back. I have had this computer for about 3 or 4 years and its on a solid state drive. I also have 16 GB of RAM.

  • @rasonbran2019 I have the same problems as you except I run on 8 gb ram. I tried many solutions, but the one that ended up working for me was going into the in-game settings and changing my screen resolution to 1360x980 or something along those lines. It lowered the picture quality of the game by a small margin, but for the most part I run smoothly at 60 fps. Only a few fps drops here and there if I am playing on demanding maps or large servers.

@rasonbran2019 If you have attempted every solution, you could try a system reset or download Intel XTU to change the voltage and get more performance out of your rig by overclocking. I tried those and they seemed to help me out; just research on those options and be sure to know what you’re doing.

Alright. I think its just my laptop maybe. Because this used to never happen on here. It is also weird because I am able to run other fps games like bf4 and detailed games like The Forest. But Battlefield 1 is the only game that is having this issue.

  • Here is my suggestion on what to do to stop FPS Drop.

    1st Step

First, go to Nvidia Control Panel.

    And follow these steps:

Go over to Adjust Image Settings With Preview
Select Use Advanced 3D Image Settings and hit Apply

Then go over to Manage 3D settings and change

    Global Program Settings:

    Ambient Occulsion= Off
    Anisotropic Filtering = Off
    Antialiasing-FXAA= Off
    Antialiasing Gamma Correction= On
    Antialiasing-Mode= Application-controlled
    Antialiasing-Setting= Application- controlled
    Antialiasing- Transparency= Off
    CUDA-GPUs= All
DSR-Factors= 2.00x (if you can turn them off)
    DSR-Smoothness= 35%
    Maximum pre-rendered frames= 1
    Multi-Frame Sampled AA (MFAA)= Off
    OpenGL rendering GPU= Auto-select
Power management mode= Prefer Maximum Performance
    Shader Cache= On
Texture filtering- Anisotropic sample option...= Off
Texture filtering- Negative LOD bias= Allow
    Texture filtering- Quality= High Performance
    Texture filtering- Trilinear optimization= On
    Threaded optimization= On
    Triple Buffering= Off
    Vsync= Off
    Virtual Reality pre-rendered frames= 1
    ------------------------------------------
    Program Settings:
    Anisotropic Filering= Off
    Antialiasing-FXAA= Off
    Antialiasing Gamma Correction= On
    Antialiasing-Mode= Use Global Setting
Antialiasing- Transparency= Use Global Setting (Off)
    CUDA-GPUs= All
    Maximum pre-rendered frames= 1
    Multi-Frame Sampled AA (MFAA)= Off
    OpenGL rendering GPU= Auto-select
Power management mode= Prefer Maximum Performance
    Shader Cache= On
Texture filtering- Anisotropic sample option...= On
Texture filtering- Negative LOD bias= Clamp
    Texture filtering- Quality= High Performance
    Texture filtering- Trilinear optimization= On
    Threaded optimization= On
    Triple Buffering= Off
    Vsync= Off
    Virtual Reality pre-rendered frames= 1

    2nd Step

Check your PC and disable any overlays.

The most important overlay to disable is Origin.

    (Here's how to disable it)

    - Go to Origin

Click on Origin button in the top left corner

Click on Application settings and then click on Origin In-Game and turn it off

I recommend then to turn of Discord Overlay.

    3rd Step

    Repair your game.

Go to Origin and right click on Battlefield 1 and repair the game.

    4th Step

    Reset your PC

Try those and tell me how it goes 🙂
