The choose update, and it said that my version was already updated, however the problem was not solved until I manually added Battlefield 4 to the list via the add game option. Allow the BF4 version to update, after it is done close the update utility and you should now be able to play BF4.
This game is a pathetic joke of bugs. Hire a QA team.
