Yes, Battlefield 1 was a birthday gift for me back in 2016 (the game was released on October 21st and my birthday is October 22).
I started collecting skins more seriously only during Jaqub Ajmal's twitter polls (BFV was already released then).
At that time there were still glitches and you could easily get / farming the scraps.
And without the weekly scrap exchange, I don't think I would have been able to collect all the 846 skins, because I tried a lot of battlepacks, but I didn't succeed.
