Weird BF1 DLC Idea

Well basically I finished watching a mockumentary produced by the history channel in 2013 titled "The Great Martian War (1913-1917). Basically the premise of the alternate history is that before WW1 broke out, Europe was invaded by martian aliens, and the Central and Allied powers have to band together to combat this literally otherworldly threat. This mockumentary is based upon H.G. Wells' famous novel, War of the Worlds, and it gives it a spin by incorporating very realize elements, which is WW1!

The technology of the Martians are very interesting, as they are steampunk tripods that come in three different types, Herons, Iron Spiders, and Lice. The herons are the large massive tripods that reach to the clouds, whereas the Iron Spiders are smaller, and are used to take out human soldiers using close quarter tentacles. I feel that this whole alternate history idea would be a rather interesting DLC that I would rather like to see in BF1. Basically you have a team that play as the Martians, and they have their tripods and other technology, whereas the human team have relatively the same equipment, except the tanks are planes are made to combat the Martian machines using "ray gun turrets" and other missiles. The large martian Herons would be a behemoth for the martian side, and they would provide heavy fire that may be similar to the heavy machine gun seen with the ground support attack plane variant. Whereas the humans would have Zeppelins, trains, or other existing behemoths for their side.

I know, I am rambling, but imo this is a cool idea. Tell me what you think.

The following is some footage from the mockumentary to give you an idea of what I am talking about.

Similar sentiments to the above. Really interesting idea (sounds a bit like a twist on games like Dead by Daylight in a way) but it'd most likely never be added for BF1 unfortunately.

P.S. I'm going to move this thread to the BF1 section.

Yeah, I just love history, BF1, WW1, and alternate history, so I thought this idea was rather interesting lol. I obviously know that this will never happen, but who knows? Perhaps in the next WW1 BF game! 🙂)

  • Btw here are some pictures from the mockumentary to give more ideas of what the Martian vehicles would look like. Sorry for bad image quality, just look up Great Martian War on google, and you will find all of these photos
