What is needed to make this game launch?

I just want to play the game. Why have I been googling for almost an hour and with no answer? Why am I being forced to jump through hoops made by the developers to get an answer from the community that they should be able to give me in 10 seconds?

All I want to do is play the game.

But when I try to launch the game or join a server it just opens another tab of battlelog.

  • I am using chrome
  • Origin is up to date
  • Battlefield 3 has been verified
  • I can't even play campaign

Online multiplayer is a service provided by numerous places, but when I can't even launch and play the single player local campaign of a game that I purchased then something is seriously messed up and needs to be resolved.

No, you MUST use Battlelog to play the game.  The only "workaround" is that you are able to play the campaign ONLY offline / not on Battlelog.  Otherwise you MUST use Battlelog to play Multiplayer.

    Welcome to Battlefield!!!

Battlefield is launched thru the site called Battlelog.  I believe your problem is that you are using the Chrome browser.  I love Chrome, and used to use it for launching the game, but a few months ago, Chrome dropped support for the Plug-in that is used for launching the game.  They have released a "Plug-in Free Launching" system, but it doesn't work for my friends and I.  It works for some, but we have not gotten it to work.  I would start off by using Firefox (this is the browser I use to launch the game).  Sign into your Battlelog there.  Then hover over your name in the top-right corner of the page, and click "Settings".  The top option is "Game Launch" and this "Use plug-in free game launching" is ON by default.  Click the slide bar next to this and turn it OFF.  Then to the left of your name, you will see a Yellow circle with an arrow in it.  Click this and download and install the plug-in.  After this, Reboot your PC to ensure it has installed fully.  Then sign back in, and try to launch the game now.

Post back here and let me know if you were able to get it to launch, or if you have any further questions.

  • I am fully aware I could download another browser to play the game. What I am asking is has EA/Dice/Whatever really not made the game playable unless you use a specific list of browsers? Is there really no other workaround?
