@AlCapone_II-_-II You really need to calm down, this is a community run technical self help site which means that you are not yelling at EA and DICE employees you are yelling at fellow gamers who are trying to help you.  You cannot download Back to Karkand because it is already on your PS3's hard drive since it was part of a 2.1GB BF3 title update when B2K was released for the owners of the BF3 limited edition back in 2011. In order to access Back to Karkand as a player who is the original owner of the BF3 limited edition you just need to go into your download\purchase history in the PSN store and redownload your BF3 limited edition online pass. The limited edition online pass provides the necessary privileges to access back to Karkand without paying for it - it is not tied to the BF3 limited edition disc.

If you purchased a used\second hand\pre-owned of the BF3 Limited Edition you do not own Back to Karkand for free because access to Back to Karkand ownership\access is tied solely to the BF3 Limited Edition online pass (and later to the BF3 Premium edition online pass) that was redeemed on the Original Owner's PSN account. In this case if you wish to play Back to Karkand maps you will need to purchase the expansion separately.

  • PLEASE NOTE: You don't need to buy Close Quarters if you purchased Battlefield Premium. It is possible to buy Close Quarters even if you already have access to it via Premium Membership, so please be careful.

    Xbox 360:
If you're a Battlefield 3 Premium player on XBOX 360 you do not need to download anything to access Close Quarters. The content was included in the Multiplayer Patch #3, which was a forced download / patch for the game on June 5th, 2012.

No additional download is needed, and the content cannot be downloaded through the in-game store. Battlefield 3 Premium players can access this content via the regular map and server browser located in-game.

    Playstation 3:
There is an update associated with Close Quarters. If Battlefield 3 prompts you to update, please do so; you will need to download it before you can play Close Quarters.

There are two ways to download the Close Quarters expansion on the PS3. You can either use the in-game store in Battlefield 3 to launch the PlayStation Store, or go there directly from the Playstation 3 XMB. If you have purchased Premium, we recommend downloading via the In-Game Store to avoid accidentally paying for Close Quarters.

IN-GAME STORE: (Use this method if you have purchased Premium)

    1. Select the “Store” option from the in-game Battlefield 3 main menu

    2. Select the “Battlefield 3: Close Quarters” item in the store

    3. Complete the checkout process

PSN STORE: (If you have purchased Premium, DO NOT use this method)

    1. Open the PlayStation Store

    2. Find Close Quarters and select it.

    3. Select Download. If you have Battlefield Premium, the purchase will be free. If not, you will need to pay for the content at this time.

    4. Download the file. It will Install once it has downloaded.

    5. You will receive a notice that the Close Quarters content has been unlocked.

    PC:
You can purchase and download Close Quarters for the PC in any of these three ways:

    • from the Origin Client Store

    • from the Origin Web Store

    • buy a key at retail or from a 3rd party to redeem in Origin

If you have Battlefield Premium, you just need to update BF3 and the Close Quarters content will be unlocked in your game.

    Client Method:

    1. Open the Origin client on your PC, and open the Store tab. If you have Battlefield Premium, skip to step 5.

    2. Find Close Quarters in the store.

    3. Click Add to Cart, then select Checkout to purchase.

    4. Click Complete Purchase to confirm your order.

    5. You will now need to go to My Games and update Battlefield 3 to play Close Quarters. Click on to see all the add-ons available.

    Web Store Method:

    1. Visit http://store.origin.com.

    2. Search for Close Quarters.

    3. Click Add to Cart, then select Checkout to purchase.

    4. Click Submit to confirm your order.

    5. You will now need to go to My Games and update Battlefield 3 to play Close Quarters.

    Code-in-a-box and 3rd Party method:

    1. Open the Origin client on your PC, click Origin on the top menu bar and then select Redeem Product Code.

    2. Enter your code then hit Next.

    3. Confirm that the code is for Close Quarters and hit Next again.

    4. You will receive a confirmation of your code redemption.

    5. You will now need to go to My Games and update Battlefield 3 to play Close Quarters.

Running Close Quarters as an AdministratorPrint
      Updated:  6/13/2012
Some users are receiving a message saying they must install Battlefield 3: Close Quarters as an Administrator in order to play it. There are two solutions to this issue:

      1. The issue can be circumvented by installing the Beta version of Origin from this link: https://download.dm.origin.com/origin/beta/8.6.1.39/OriginSetup.exe

      2. You can install Close Quarters as an admin by renaming a file in your Origin directory:
      1. Close the Origin client
      2. Go to Program Files/Origin
      3. Find a file named 'IGO32.dll'
      4. Rename it 'IGO32a.dll '
      5. Restart Origin and re-download and re-install BF3 Close Quarters.
You should no longer receive this error message.
