Solved

why does the sniper rifles not fire?

Product: Battlefield 1
Platform:Microsoft XBOX One
Summarize your bug Cant fire any sniper rifles. The trigger button does nothing. I have tried every conceivable way and multiple button combos incase its a super secret button combo. The only way i can fire a sniper rifle is to hold the fire button/trigger and do a little jump.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? How should i know? I see almost every other person having no problems. It was the same on the beta, i was hoping it was just..well...a small glitch. I have been looking through you tube and found a comment by another person who has the same problem so i know i am not alone.
What happens when the bug occurs? Nothing. Nothing happens because the rifles simply dont fire. Can only fire by holding the trigger button and doing a little jump in the air. Very, very sloppy on EA's side.
Please select your region Europe
In what game mode did the bug occur? Conquest
AMD or Nvidia Model Number
Enter RAM memory size in GB

I could but i havent gotten rnd to making one. Also...all you would see is me stood there looking dumb or doing a little jump and firing a shot.

I had the same problem. Turned out to be my short stroke trigger pull setting on XB1 elite controller. Same for Scuff controller. Set to normal pull or use original XB controller. Strange that in my case it would fire pistols, machine guns and cannons in short stroke setting just not any rifle.

I have done some tests and even tried another pad. In conclusion....i feel a little silly but i have the solution. Everybody that is having problems are using the Elite controller. The problem is the elite controllers "hair trigger" switches. YOU MUST MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT USING THE HAIR TRIGGER FUNCTION ON THE PAD..BEFORE YOU LOAD THE GAME. changing the hair triggers from 'on' to 'off', ingame, does not work. If you set the switches to 'off' before you load the game i.e. the triggers fully depress when pulled,... you wont have any problems and can use all weps.
Yeah...i feel like a douhgnut :/ but had no idea the hair triggers were the problem as i was setting them 'on' and 'off' ingame with no effect. Make sure they are set 'off' before loading game.
The hair trigger switches effect other games too such as gta5 where they wont allow you to wheel spin ya car.

I have this issue and I'm playing on PC with keyboard/mouse. Everything but the sniper rifle works.

    @ranbla

What type of mouse do you have? Does right-clicking on the game in Origin and selecting "repair" fix it?

  • @ranblaI am having persistent issues too But on standard controller. Haven’t been able to fire any sniper rifle, except one of the medic class sniper guns that has no scope. Every other gun and gadget works fine. I have played w/trigger sensitivity but still a no go. I play on Xbox 1 but see this is a somewhat common issue on all platforms. Nice...🙄

  • This post is from 2016 and now its 2020 and how did DICE sort out this problem with sniper rifle because its doesn't work at all.

  • I'm closing this thread to stop it from being necroed.

If you have any issues with Battlefield 1, please make a new topic about your problems and what kind of steps you have tried to solve them.
