windows 8.1 punkbuster keeps breaking (B initialization failed)
I've tried everything... reinstalled, added to firewall and given full permissions, copied the files over from syswow64 to system32, ran the repair utility through pbsvc, updated through pbsetup, started the B service through services, downloaded process explorer but the options that broke this for other people weren't ticked anyway - nothing has worked for more than a single session.
It works for specifically 1 day after "fixing" it, which consists of uninstalling > restarting > installing (all through pbsvc), and then it goes back to being broke (after a second shut down), the B service is "marked for deletion" for no apparent reason and i get kicked from a match after a couple of minutes.
Posting here because a lengthy post over on the PC forums got a massive 10 responses, 4 of which were my own to people trying to throw the usual troubleshooting "advice" at me, despite telling them what i had already tried in the original post
My windows 8.1 is a legit copy, fully activated, fully updated, never had this problem once on windows 7, it began as soon as i switched over.

stopped razer cortex from launching on startup and i think that's done it, got this tip from a thread saying that the program could interfere with punkbuster, i would never have thought that... i'll give it a few days before i call it the solution but it's looking good
4 days later without punkbuster breaking... confirmed, this is my solution, bit poor because i used razer cortex to boost performance if even a few %
