Worse performance on crossfire than with single card

BF4 seems to be the only game that I get a decreased performance when I run my 7970 ghz edition cards in crossfire.  I have the latest beta drivers (13.11).

My rig:

7970 ghz edition x2

i5 2500k @ 4.8ghz

1250w psu

Is there any way to fix this?  I basically bought a 2nd card to run bf4 on ultra at 80+ fps but if i'm running crossfire, i get 40-60, which is actually a downgrade from what I get running a single card where it never drops below 60 generally.  I know crossfire is working as well as when I use the unigen valley benchmark, i'm getting expected scores from other people that have run it using the same cards in crossfire.

  • I have the same problem.

Single card performance is good, tho, so I'll be returning the second card soon.

  • I'm having the exact same problem, and performance has decreased with the latest patch (nov 14th). I'm extremely aggravated by this.

I'm guessing you will just have to wait for AMD to update their crossfire profiles for BF4.

I have the same problem. I always launch using the web page, so I don't think compatibility mode is a problem. This is the only game I have an issue with. My cards are Gigabyte R9 290X's.

  • I also have this problem and i also found one of the patches has made it worse.

i5 3570k @4.2Ghz and 7850's when playing low settings 1080p 144Hz there are drops to 40 even 30 when crossfire. But when on a single card the fps is much more stable between 70 lowest up to 144(capped). I hope we get a good crossfire driver soon!!

If it still doesn't work you should definitely do a clean driver install of the 13.12 drivers
