sounds like what you did was transferred your stats prior to this issue. if im correct then it seems like you used your one time stat transfer and will have to rank yourself back up again.
Now that i think about it your right...I played it on my friends Xbox under my account a long time ago...but how come i was able to return to the xbox 360 version afterwards?

Because after the transfer the 360 and Xbone soldiers are treated as seperate soldiers and their career paths are unconnected after the stat import. You can still play on both platforms but progress made on one console is not reflected on the other console after the import.
