“Accept it or don’t buy the game.”  These are comments from Patrick Söderlund, an executive with EA who recently announced that he is leaving the company.

My opinions......

I can understand the slow sales of BFV. BFV will be a game not well accepted by today's BF players looking for a great BF game, not just a "pretty graphics" stand in. And that's EA and DICE's fault for the lack of understanding or listening to what their customers wanted and asked for. This is another BF Hardline in the making. Graphically "Pretty" games don't make GREAT tactical war games!

There are many reasons why, for the slow sales of BFV.... like:

1.  No complete Clan Support for larger groups of friends to play together.
2. Lacking a great mic communications system for Squad to Squad tactical play as BF3 had.
3.  The lack of larger player game rooms as in 24 vs 24, 32 vs 32 and larger.
4.  The Biggest problem:  Another WW2 game!  Just like a clone of the year old CoD WW2 .  Who needs another WW2 game?
5.  Not being a Modern Warfare game like Battlefield 3 or BF4.
6. Support for the PS5 is unknown?
7. Unknown info on User Controlled Custom Private Servers.
8. No info on a BFV Private Home practice room for private Clans to work on tactics and strategy for teaching new Clan members.
9. Unknown info on Great support for vehicles, armor and complete use of aircraft. BF3 set that standard.
10. No Support Tools for public and private Clan War competitions and Tournaments and no online score keeping system.
11. No Pre-Game launch room for two Clans to gather, meet and discuss the next game and shoot the Sh*t. The Sony SOCOM games had these pre-game launch room options over 15+ years ago! I guess DICE couldn't handle this.
12.  A useless 'Run & Gun', 'Shoot Anything That Moves', "BATTLE ROYAL" game mode!! This game mode is for kiddies, not adult players! Huge mistake to add this mode. But little screaming kids will love it!
13.  And Last: The Possible additions of player hated, Loot Boxes and Micro-Transactions added to BFV at a later date. EA said these will be added later to BFV, not to * off early BFV buyers, as was in the Star Wars Battlefrond games!

If BFV can't even provide these simple multiplayer options... my 200+ online PS4 War Clan won't touch this game. And I won't bother buying one copy for myself either. We didn't waste our money on BF1. BF4 was a weak * game for Clans.  BF3 was still the last great Battlefield game.

  • I find it interesting that this 'sales' story has remained untouched by: Eurogamer, GamesIndustry.biz, GameInformer, GamesRadar, GameSpot, IGN, Polygon and even Kotaku, Possibly because the 'data' in current circumstances is a bit flaky. The article quoted poses failure as a question, because they don't know. It's speculative.

The analyst (Cowen) extrapolates from GameStop pre-order data (previously they used Amazon). [Source]

It's my understanding that while this analyst may have been accurate in the past, working against them is the significant growth in digital sales and EA Premiere sales, data they don't have, and are left only to guesswork based upon the declining GameStop numbers.

In short, Battlefield V may be in 3rd place but we don't really know for sure or by how much, so looking to build an argument on top of that seems a bit of a stretch.

I can't judge how valid or otherwise the clan concerns are, are these a niche concerns?

  • like this insight... but as sales of  preorders rise... not all players are into or take notice of the politics, deep insights or negative comments

most,i think you will find just want to play the game and see how it is.. and think how can you criticise game that you cant play yet... though there is a large group of negative players out there (no women in ww's but happy to be a sniper on russian maps..lol)... the large fan base of players.... hopes that some things with appear faster than normal... like platoons and private servers to dive into the competitive side... some tweeks, squad size to chat ratio.. but all in all the fan base is so large and with BF1 attracting so many COD players... that are now fans,i personally dont think Battlefield has anything to worry about

  • "BF1 attracting so many COD players"
i think it started this BF3, and after that they complained about how the vehicles were OP they started to morph more and more into COD which was a mistake
