Battlefield V crash to Desktop when setting custom resolution
I have a Samsung Q9FN connected via HDMI2.0 to my PC (Win10 + GTX2080TI). I am running a custom resolution - 1440p @ 120Hz and every other game is running fine. BFV also USED to work, but now it crashes to desktop without any message when I select the same resolution in Video settings with FULLSCREEN enabled.
What I've tried without any luck so far:
1) Repair game in Origin
2) Delete Origin cache.
3) Delete BFV settings from ~/Documents
4) In game settings reset to default video settings
5) In game settings, selected BORDERLESS and then FULLSCREEN on said resolution
6) In Windows, created a different custom resolution - 1440p @ 119Hz
7) Toggeled HDR on/off in Windows and in game settings, tried all combinations.
8) In Windows, tried the different DPI settings for the game, also tried launching as Administrator.
9) In game settings, tried DX11 and DX12, with and without RTX and DLSS.
10) Reinstalled Windows and BFV.
Does anyone have any other troubleshooting suggestions?
Thanks for the link, many useful tips!
What I find strange is that all the resolutions work, 4K, 1440p, 1080p, but none work with 120Hz (1080p or 1440p).
I actually managed to get it to work now. What I did was the following:
1) Did a clean windows boot to prevent unnecessary apps or services to start up.
2) Set windows resolution to 1440p @ 119Hz (custom resolution)
3) Started BFV and set Resolution to 1440p @ 60Hz + Apply
4) In BFV video settings, set resolution to 1440p @ 119Hz -----> Crash! to Windows.
5) In Windows, I did NOT start the nvidia Control Panel, but I right-clicked the desktop and opened display adapter properties.
6) In display adapter properties I unticked "hide unsupported modes" (?) and selected 120Hz
7) Fired up BFV and selected 1440p @ 120Hz resolution and happy days!
I have no idea what did it, but now it works for now..
For future reference I think it is useful to create 2 custom resolutions, 1440p @ 119Hz and 1440p @ 120Hz. BFV is picky, and sometimes one can work and not the other.
