This is pure and simple - there have been several different versions released since its launch, and no way for vanilla users to upgrade it to the recent content! Virtually every other EA game offers this, so Battlefield V should be no exception.
You'd just need to buy the catch up packs or the weapons and vehicles individually using Company Coin.
I remember a post of Twitter saying they were working on such an upgrade; I assume it would launch closer to the upcoming Community Games patch
