Battlefield V missing from EA App, but bugged with Origin.

I recently purchased Battlefield V through Steam. When I play it, Origin is loaded up to launch the game. With Origin I am suffering from a movement bug with Origin overlay described in this post:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-V/Battlefield-I-and-V-movement-bug/td-p/10544053

The bug renders the game unplayable. EA did not offer a solution as Windows 11 isn't supported for the game. Others who have this bug say that switching to the EA App from Origin is a solution.

My problem is that the EA App does not show Battlefield V in my library. It shows some other games, but asks me to purchase Battlefield V again through the EA App. The game was purchased directly from Steam, so I doubt there are some fishy product key restrictions. Can anybody offer a solution so I can play this game?

Ok, follow-up to this with a solution I found in THIS THREAD with credit to user wiseolddude :

    "(in the Origin app)

Application settings>overlay>disabled  (doesn't work and the game still has the overlay)

    Game>properties>disable  overlay>this works."

So right clicking BF V in Origin, selecting Game Properties, and disabling Origin In-Game from there, successfully disables the overlay. This also successfully resolves the movement bug without sacrificing my ability to join a squad with friends.

Hi @GoodManMew First to confirm your copy of BFV will not appear in the EA App client as Stream currently integrates with Origin only, so can Steam games you own from EA will not show in the EA App.

When it comes to issues with an overlay can you try disabling Origins (and any others you have running) to see if this helps?

    • Disable Origin in-game overlay and any other running overlays

    Thanks!

  • @EA_Illium Thanks so much for getting back to me with valuable information! I was wondering about Steam games integrating with the EA App.

Regarding your suggestion, yes disabling the Origin in-game overlay (I did by renaming igo64.dll in the BF V install folder) immediately solves the movement issue. However, this also makes me unable to join my friends squads in-game as far as I can tell. Which also isn't workable for me because I bought the game to play with a squad.
Is this accurate, or am I overlooking a way to join friends while the overlay is disabled?

@GoodManMew I wouldn't recommend renaming or editing DLL files with the game itself, the link above should show you how to disable to setting from the Origin client. Can you try disabling it in the client, and verifying your game files and checking if this new issue continues?
  • @EA_Illium Ah well the issue is just branching out. I uninstalled Origin and reinstalled it to be sure it was fresh, then I disabled origin in-game overlay in the origin client, then I verified the game files. When opening BF V now, the in-game overlay is still active, even though the setting is disabled. Regardless of whether the game is open or closed, the overlay setting is disabled, but is still active when I press Shift + F1 in game. There seems to be no way to actually disable it.

And yes, the movement issue is still present, because the overlay is present.
