Battlefield V Strange Colour Error when Adjusting Brightness & Taking Screenshot

I encountered a issue after playing BFV on my new PC. The colour will be distorted or over saturated for a few seconds after I trying to adjust my screen brightness (not in-game option, using hotkey on keyboard) or taking screenshot using Xbox Game Bar (WIN+Alt+PrtScrn). But it still playable since the colour will turn normal after few seconds.

While the most annoying thing is that the game will sometimes crash after I tried to minimize the game (switching to desktop when accidentally pressed WIN key) and even if the game did not crash, the colour will be distorted and last forever when I return the game unless I restarted the game.

I wonder if someone have similar experience and I'd be appreciated if someone could offer a solution.

The following are my PC and in-game video configuration:

Hardware Info:

CPU: Intel i7-11800H

GPU: NVIDIA RTX3070 Laptop GPU

RAM: 16GB Dual Channel DDR4 Memory

Monitor: 2560x1600 165Hz Screen

In-game Config:

Graphic: Ultra High (All)

Resolution: 2560x1600 @165Hz

Vertical Sync: Off

Dx12: On

Raytracing: Off

The following pictures demonstrate the issue. I have never encountered this using my old i7-7700HQ/GTX1070 PC

  • HDR setting does that.  Your brightness is way up in hdr, but the screenshots are standard resolution

  • Yes i have the exact same issue. it looks normal while playing but when i try to record or do screenshot it's so bright you cant even see anything.

I have 3070ti but it seems to be hdr issue or monitors with hdr bcs the issue occured after monitor swap

  • Thank you @fragnstein  and @BartolTTV for the hint about HDR. I don't quite know the reason behind this but turning off the HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE in advanced video setting seems to do fix the problem. Although I'm not quite sure how it will influence the graphic when playing the game, it is better not seeing colour distortion from time to time.

    What is HDR?

HDR is an imaging technique that captures, processes, and reproduces content in such a way that the detail of both the shadows and highlights of a scene are increased. While HDR was used in traditional photography in the past, it has recently made the jump to smartphones, TVs, monitors, and more.

So what does this mean for you? This means images have more overall detail, a wider range of colors, and look more similar to what is seen by the human eye when compared to SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) images.
