BF V PC crash + unable to connect online

Hi all, I will try provide as much input as possible. Before the Overture update I had zero issues in playing BFV. Since the update I am facing multiple separate issues. 1) Infinite loading...

    Hi! Apologies for not coming back sooner! I actually lost this thread... so thank you for the reminder!

    Set your Link speed to the maximum possible - I use TP-links with Giga Ports allowing full 1.00 Gbps Full Duplex from the router which also has Giga ports. You may need to set yours accordingly. Your PC won't connect to the Internet/network if it is set to anything but what your port speed is. Most people have 100 Mbps Full Duplex selected, which is common.

    NIC Settings I use for gaming and general performance:

    • Gigabit Master Slave Mode - Auto Detect

    • Interrupt Moderation - Enabled

    • Jumbo Packet - Disabled

    • Large Send Offload V2 (IPv4) - Enabled

    • Large Send Offload V2 (IPv6) - Enabled

    • Legacy Switch Compatibility Mode - Disabled

    • Log Link State - Enabled

    • Maximum Number of RSS Queues - 2 (Or highest possible)

    • Packet Priority & VLAN - Enabled

    • recieve Side Scaling - Enabled

    • Wait for Link - Auto Detect

    • Energy Efficient Ethernet - Off

    • Ultra Low Power Mode when cable disconnected - off

    • Wake on Link Settings - off

    • All your Offload options - Enabled (You will see varying opinions on this one)

    • Adaptive Inter-Frame Spacing - Disabled

    • Flow Control - Rx & Tx Enabled

    • Interrupt Moderation rate - Adaptive

    • Recieve Buffers - 256

    • transmit Buffers - 512

Always have Origin UI overlay disabled - It can be temperamental.  One of the first thing's EA support suggest to disable.

Personally:

  • Router firewall OFF
  • DMZ ON
  • Port Forward for BFV - Here
  • Configure NIC for high performance (Green Ethernet OFF etc)
  • Allow your ISP to do the DNS routing (they normally provide closest - fastest is not normally the best, games servers use IP's not DNS) - DNS Check just in-case here
  • Windows Defender ON
  • I use O&OShutup10 which turns off background un-wanted services - here

I see you covered all the other avenues.

Thank you for your time and input.

I have managed to set most of the settings and am still fidling around with some.

Can you please be more specific on the part about configuring the NIC for high performance, as I have done exactly what you mentioned there about "green ethernet".

Can you please mention specifically more options which you actually adjusted and how?

Is this article good enough as a "guide" Ethernet performance guide. I am asking as it mentions the name of Flex radio systems, which is not what I have.
I have Intel's Killer E2500 controller. I am also asking as I am not sure on which settings should I choose for:

Maximize all adapter buffers and descriptors - Set these values as high as possible for maximum performance. On PCs with limited physical memory, this may have a negative impact as send buffers consume system memory. On most systems, however, the maximum setting can be applied without significantly reducing available memory.

Receive Buffers: The buffer size of system memory that can be used by the adapter for received packets, which can be increased to help improve the performance of outgoing network traffic, but it consumes system memory.

Transmit Buffers: The buffer size of system memory that can be used by the adapter for sending packets, which can be increased to help improve the performance of outgoing network traffic, but it consumes system memory.

Receive Descriptors: Sets the number of Receive Descriptors that are allocated in the host memory and used to store the received packets. This can be increased if performance of received traffic is lacking.

Transmit Descriptors: Sets the number of Transmit Descriptors that enable the adapter to track transmit packets in the system memory. This can be increased if performance of transmission traffic is lacking.

Yes I am aware at what it says, and that it describes what each of them does, however I wouldn't like to screw up the "Internet" behavior as it can have a negative impact as well.

Other than that, I have a general question about your personal preference of updating the W10 build version to 1809, as we know so far it causes quite a bit of issues and even Microsoft pulled it off.

For other things mentioned here I am trying to find what suits me the best.

    Funnily enough, that Flex radio url is the same one I used initially as I was unsure of what did what performance wise.

    I ended up googling my NIC and came to an intel page whivh described the pros and * of each setting. I increased my transmit packets from 96 to about 248 I think. (I am at work so this is from memory)

    I will take a look when I get home and feedback my settings. This us most likely not a fix but it helps.

    I am not running 1809 yet as per the issues.

      Oh no worries I am at work as well xD

      If you could let me know what are your settings that would be perfect.

      I am not treating this as a fix I am merely trying to tweak my NIC. BTW as we started a discussion about these things, yesterday I found out that my Ethernet cable was actually faulty as it kept connecting and disconnecting my internet connection, when touching it. It was bent on the connector, one problem less to handle.

      I am sure I would benefit from doing this as I have a FTTC 240dl/24upl.

      P.S. I saw there are fixes on the way already at DICE_OFFICIAL on Reddit for crashes, map loading, etc. so I have no doubt things will get fixed by this coming Thursday.
